2.3.1 Anonymous Installation Tracking
When you install the OddsGuard browser extension, we assign a unique identifier called an "Installation UUID" to your browser. This identifier is used for anonymous usage tracking and system stability monitoring.
Important clarifications:
- Installation UUID is a custom identifier we generate (e.g.,
550e8400-e29b-41d4-a716-446655440000) - NOT Chrome's Extension ID - The Installation UUID is different from Chrome's built-in Extension ID
- Purpose: Track extension installations, monitor system health, detect abuse, and measure performance
- Anonymous: The Installation UUID does not contain any personally identifiable information
- Deletion: You can request deletion of your Installation UUID data at any time
- Storage: Stored locally in your browser and on our servers for analytics
Why we need this:
- System Health: Monitor extension stability and error rates
- Abuse Detection: Identify and block malicious usage patterns (e.g., rate limit violations)
- Feature Usage: Understand which features are most valuable to users
- Regional Analytics: Show relevant odds for your location
2.3.2 Extension Usage Tracking
We track the following activities when you use the OddsGuard extension:
Sport Detection & Resolution:
- URLs of supported pages you visit (e.g.,
draftkings.com/sportsbook/nfl) - Sports, events, and markets you view
- Sport detection confidence scores
- API calls to our odds comparison service
Affiliate Link Tracking:
- When you click affiliate links from our extension
- Bookmaker, sport, event, and market associated with each click
- Timestamp and referring URL
- Geographic location (country and state/province only)
Notification Engagement:
- When notifications are delivered to your extension
- When you read, dismiss, or click notification action buttons
- Notification types (system, odds, marketing, urgent)
Important limitations:
- ✅ We ONLY track activity on supported websites
- ❌ We DO NOT track your general web browsing
- ❌ We DO NOT access passwords, payment information, or personal messages
- ❌ We DO NOT track activity on non-supported websites
Purpose:
- Improve odds comparison accuracy
- Measure affiliate link performance (helps us keep the service free)
- Optimize notification relevance and timing
- Detect and prevent abuse
2.3.3 Uninstall Tracking & Exit Survey
When you uninstall the OddsGuard extension, we track the uninstall event and invite you to complete an optional exit survey.
What we collect:
- Uninstall Date & Time: When you uninstalled the extension
- Installation Duration: How many days you used the extension
- Exit Survey (Optional):
- Star rating (1-5 stars)
- Uninstall reason (9 predefined options)
- Optional comment
- Optional email address for follow-up
Important:
- Soft Delete: We mark your installation as "disabled" but retain the record for analytics
- Anonymous: Uninstall data is analyzed in aggregate, not individually
- Optional Survey: You can skip the exit survey - it is completely voluntary
- Deletion Rights: You can request full deletion of your uninstall data at any time
Purpose:
- Understand why users uninstall the extension
- Identify product issues and improvement opportunities
- Measure retention and user satisfaction
- Respond to user concerns (if you provide an email address)
How it works:
- When you uninstall, Chrome automatically opens our exit survey page
- Your Installation UUID is passed to the survey page via URL parameter
- If you submit the survey, your feedback is associated with your installation record
- If you close the page without submitting, we only record the uninstall event (no feedback)
2.4 Extension Notifications
The OddsGuard extension may deliver notifications to keep you informed about:
- System updates: Critical extension updates, maintenance, or security alerts
- Odds alerts: New odds, value bets, or arbitrage opportunities
- Promotional content: New features, offers, or platform updates
- Urgent notifications: Time-sensitive information (e.g., event starting soon)
How notifications work:
- Delivery: The extension checks for new notifications every 60 seconds (polling)
- Privacy: Notification checks only occur when you have active browser tabs open
- Display: Notifications appear as overlay messages on sportsbook pages
- Control: You can manage notification preferences in the extension settings
Notification Retention:
- Guest Users (Not Signed In): Notification history is retained for 7 days
- Authenticated Users (Signed In): Unlimited notification history
Your Rights:
- You can dismiss any notification
- You can disable specific notification types in extension settings
- You can request deletion of your notification history
2.5 Remote Extension Management
To ensure system stability, prevent abuse, and protect our users, OddsGuard implements the following remote management features:
Version Enforcement
We may require users to update to a minimum extension version for security or compatibility reasons. When a new minimum version is set:
- Grace Period: Users receive 7 days' notice before older versions are blocked
- Notification: A once-per-day notification reminds users to update
- Purpose: Ensure all users have critical security patches and bug fixes
Rate Limiting
We monitor API usage to prevent abuse and ensure fair access for all users:
- Tier 1 (Odds Comparison): Strict limits on odds API calls
- Tier 2 (Notifications): Lenient limits on notification polling
- Automatic Actions: Extensions exceeding limits may be temporarily disabled
- Appeal: Contact support if you believe your extension was disabled incorrectly
IP-Based Blocking
We may block IP addresses exhibiting abusive patterns (e.g., automated scraping, DoS attacks):
- CIDR Range Support: Entire IP ranges may be blocked if necessary
- Temporary & Permanent Blocks: Blocks may expire or be permanent depending on severity
Remote Disable
We reserve the right to remotely disable extensions engaged in:
- Automated abuse (bots, scrapers)
- Rate limit violations (excessive API calls)
- Terms of Service violations
- Fraudulent activity
Notification: Disabled extensions receive an error message explaining the reason. You may appeal by contacting support@oddsguard.org.

Installation Data:
- Installation UUID, version, browser, location: Retained indefinitely for analytics
- Last Seen Timestamp: Updated on every API call
- Deletion: You can request deletion of all installation data at any time
Usage Analytics:
- Sport Detection, API Calls, Link Clicks: May be retained for up to 90 days, then anonymized
- Anonymization: Installation UUID is removed from analytics records after the retention period
- Aggregate Analytics: Anonymized data is retained indefinitely for trend analysis
Notification Data:
- Guest Users (Not Signed In): Notification history may be retained for up to 7 days
- Authenticated Users (Signed In): Notification history may be retained for up to 1 year
- Administrators: Notification history retained indefinitely
- Deletion: You can request immediate deletion of notification history at any time
Uninstall Data:
- Uninstall Events: Retained for 2 years for analytics
- Exit Survey Responses: Retained for 2 years for product improvement
- Email Addresses (if provided): Retained for 1 year or until you request deletion
- Deletion: You can request deletion of uninstall data at any time
Rate Limit Events:
- Rate Limit Violations: Retained for 30 days for abuse detection
